Straight Up is a great way for young people ages 15-25 to get community service hours and recommendations for college and job applications. You'll have the chance to develop leadership and work skills and share your talents with others.

Straight Up Video Production Team Releases New Documentary on DVD
Access and Excess, a 17-minute documentary that takes a realistic look at community problems and solutions concerning underage and binge drinking in Ventura County, is now out on DVD. This production is hosted by and features local teens and young adults and is scripted from interviews with hundreds of Ventura County high school and college students. Chief Deputy Geoff Dean of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department also shares his insights on the issues. The video will be played on local cable channels and will be available soon, at no cost, to Ventura County organizations.

Spring 2007: Ventura College's Fundamentals of Acting Class participates in a Straight Up workshops series each semester. The students will present their work for community dialogue on campus later in the spring. You don't have to be a theatre student to get involved with Straight Up at Ventura College. Give us a call!

February 2007: Straight Up Reality Improv is featured again at the Simi Valley Youth Summit February 22nd. Teens at the summit will explore community issues using Reality Improv and Social Change Theatre.

Straight Up Reality Improv a Hit in Ventura
On March 17 and April 21, Straight Up entertained at the Underground in Ventura. The performers were composed of performers from St. Bonaventure High School. Thanks to the Alpine Ventura, Wild Planet, Salzers, Lazerstar, and Pacific View Mall for providing fabulous door prizes.

On April 25th, Straight Up provided improv fun for the Simi Valley Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

Simi Valley Youth Summit features Straight Up Reality Improv
At February 23's Simi Valley Youth Summit (Simi Valley, CA), Straight Up presented reality improv and Image Theatre addressing underage and binge drinking.

Straight Up teams with local high school for video project
Straight Up is working with a peer counseling group at Oak Park High School (Oak Park, CA), producing a video on teen drinking and driving.

Reality Improv comes to Santa Su High School in Simi Valley
Members of the Community Action Theater Team (CATT) are getting trained in Reality Improv techniques in order to address underage and binge drinking within their community. CATT workshops take place at at Santa Susana High School (Simi Valley, CA). For more information about CATT contact Irene Silbert at (805) 526-4132.
